Counterfeiting is a serious global problem which affects products of every kind: from pharmaceuticals to DVDs and including watches, garments, fragrances, spare parts of cars and much more besides. It is managed by criminal networks which enrich themselves unlawfully while in the most serious cases putting consumers’ lives at risk. Everybody is affected and joint action by everyone to prevent counterfeiting is imperative.

The Swiss day against counterfeiting is organized annually under the aegis of STOP PIRACY, the Swiss platform for the prevention of counterfeiting and piracy. The purpose of this day is to make the general public more aware of this serious issue.

As part of the day’s events a major film competition was launched. The public now has an opportunity to watch a selection of these short films and pick what they consider to be the best. A jury consisting of eminent Swiss and international personalities will also award a “Special Jury” prize. The makers of both winning films will each receive a magnificent Swiss watch worth more than 4,000 francs.

By voting for the best film, members of the general public will automatically be entered in a prize draw whose winner will receive a Swiss watch worth more than 600 francs.
